Sports and Orthopedic Injuries

From ski accidents and overuse injuries, to chronic nagging pains from work, our bodies go through a lot. Kelsey believes that physiotherapy is about finding a balance of providing your body with the right environment to heal while also keeping you engaged in the activities you love. Your body and routines are unique, and finding a therapist that aligns with your goals is important to your recovery. We invest a lot of time into what we love, but seem to neglect the importance of integrating a proper injury prevention program or creating a sustainable rehabilitation plan to stay active in the long run. Specific techniques that Kelsey uses in her practice include manual therapy, dry needling/IMS, exercise prescription and clinical Pilates.

Pelvic Health

Pelvic health is a specialized area of physiotherapy that focuses on the muscles in and around the pelvis and the pelvic floor. Pelvic health physiotherapy can include assessment and treatment of pelvic pain, bowel and bladder issues, and prenatal and postpartum rehab so that you can feel confident pursuing the activities you love. A typical session involves an internal and external assessment to adequately check all parts of the pelvis that may be contributing to symptoms. Patient comfort is always the number one priority, so if you have questions or concerns about whether pelvic floor physiotherapy is right for you, please feel free to contact Gastown Physio & Pilates at 604-569-3891.

Clinical Pilates

Physiotherapy guided clinical Pilates combines a Physiotherapy and Pilates assessment and treatment techniques to optimize postural control and body awareness. Pilates based exercises can help to create body stability and mobility around all joints which makes them a great tool for rehabilitation. Exercises utilized through clinical Pilates can help with postural dysfunction, recurrent injuries, chronic pain, postpartum rehab or help to optimize movement in healthy individuals.
